Invent your very own product! Join Lauren Slowik (Design Evangelist, Shapeways) to create a 3D printed object that solves a problem in your mning routine. She takes you through the steps of identifying an everyday problem, sketching a solution, making a simple 3D digital rendering, and printing your final product.
Lauren shares how she iterates and evolves her plans to get the design just right - all so you can do it, too. No previous experience necessary! Whether you're a DIY enthusiasts, casual tinkerer, just want to learn me about one of today's most buzzy technologies, you'll leave this class with a full understanding of how to conceptualize, prototype, and bring your design to life.
Design is about trial and err, and 3D printing lowers the barrier to try things quickly and easily at a low expense. This class is great f designers, invents and enthusiasts who want to improve the wld around them and come up with a unique product they can hold in their hands.
Your assignment is to invent your own product that solves a problem annoyance. You will identify a problem area in your mning routine, sketch out ideas f a product that would solve that problem, design your product in 123D Design, and print it using the simple Shapeways platfm.
Throughout this process, you are encouraged to iterate on your design to make it as functional as possible. All products are prototypes but not all prototypes are products. Where do you make that call? That question is the essence of iterating when you design.
